Efter min mening burde det i h\u00f8j grad st\u00e5 i anf\u00f8rselstegn, eller m\u00e5ske slet ikke bruges, da det er en meget misvisende betegnelse. \u201dAnti-\u201d (gr\u00e6sk, imod) antyder en modsatrettet effekt; i dette tilf\u00e6lde alts\u00e5 en foryngelse. Jeg ville bedre kunne acceptere et begreb som f.eks. \u201dslow-aging\u201d eller endnu bedre \u201dhealthy aging\u201d, alts\u00e5 sund aldring\u00a0\u2013 men disse udtryk er nok knapt s\u00e5 catchy. Og med tanke p\u00e5, hvad visse anti-aging proponenter anbefaler, kan det vist ogs\u00e5 diskuteres, hvorvidt det altid er sundt.<\/p>\n<p>Mit issue med anti-aging er, at aldring er som bussen der hele tiden har retning mod endestationen; den kan k\u00f8re hurtigt eller langsomt, men den s\u00e6tter ikke pludselig i bakgear. S\u00e5dan er det ogs\u00e5 n\u00e5r vi \u00e6ldes \u2013 der findes endnu ikke en teknologi eller en mirakelkur, der kan\u00a0spole\u00a0\u00e6ldningsprocessen bagl\u00e6ns.<\/p>\n<p>Anti-aging f\u00e6nomenet har aff\u00f8dt en hel industri, der spiller p\u00e5 menneskets bekymring over at blive \u00e6ldre \u2013 og en r\u00e6kke firmaer spinder guld p\u00e5 produkter med udokumenteret effekt.<\/p>\n<p>En gren inden for anti-aging kulturen fokuserer meget p\u00e5 at g\u00f8re op med en mekanisme, der hindrer at celler kan dele sig i al uendelighed: afkortning af kromosomernes endestykker, telomerer. Der findes produkter p\u00e5 markedet, der anprises som v\u00e6rende i stand til at vedligeholde telomerer i kroppens celler \u2013 om end der mangler dokumentation b\u00e5de for at\u00a0disse pr\u00e6parater vedligeholder telomerer og for at det rent faktisk \u00f8ger livsl\u00e6ngden. Der er nemlig flere brikker i puslespillet om kroppens aldring. Celler, der deler sig meget sj\u00e6ldent eller slet ikke, f.eks. nerveceller i centralnervesystemet, \u00e6ldes ogs\u00e5 &#8211; p\u00e5 trods af, at de ikke f\u00e5r telomer-problemer.
