Eksempelvis er der aktuelt mere end 1000 personer i Danmark, som er over 100 \u00e5r, og eksperter forudsiger at der i fremtiden vil blive flere (l\u00e6s her).<\/p>\n<p>Der er endda nogle, som ikke umiddelbart vil s\u00e6tte en \u00f8vre gr\u00e6nse for hvor gamle vi kan blive. Eksempelvis har aldersforsker Rudi Westendorp fra Center for Sund Aldring p\u00e5 K\u00f8benhavns Universitet udtalt, at &#8220;den f\u00f8rste person, der bliver 135 \u00e5r er allerede f\u00f8dt.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Udsagnet er naturligvis til debat s\u00e5 l\u00e6nge det ikke er dokumenteret, men da den officielle rekord pt. er 122 \u00e5r (franske Jeanne Calment, der d\u00f8de i 1997), virker det m\u00e5ske ikke usandsynligt med tanke p\u00e5 de forbedrede levevilk\u00e5r menneskeheden har oplevet det seneste \u00e5rhundrede.<\/p>\n<p>Der er dog andre forskere, som mener, at der er en \u00f8vre\u00a0gr\u00e6nse for hvor h\u00f8j en alder mennesket kan opn\u00e5, og at vi formentlig allerede har set denne gr\u00e6nse. Denne alder er \u00f8get med tiden, men synes at have n\u00e5et et plateau omkring 1980.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>P\u00e5 baggrund af statistiske analyser af de tilg\u00e6ngelige data kom de frem til at stigningen i overlevelsesrate var markant i \u00e6ldre aldersgrupper, men faldt drastisk for personer &gt;100 \u00e5r &#8211; uafh\u00e6ngigt af hvorn\u00e5r de blev f\u00f8dt. Og mens\u00a0der var en kraftig stigning i personer, som blev &gt;100 \u00e5r i 1970&#8217;erne frem til 1990&#8217;erne s\u00e5 er det sidenhen stagneret. S\u00e5 mens den gennemsnitlige levealder formentlig stadig vil kunne stige p\u00e5 baggrund af forbedrede levevilk\u00e5r, s\u00e5 er der tilsyneladende en maksimal levealder, som vi allerede er st\u00f8dt p\u00e5.\u00a0If\u00f8lge Vijg og co. er den gennemsnitlige maksimale levealder p\u00e5 115 \u00e5r. Med ben\u00e6vnelsen &#8216;gennemsnitlig&#8217; er der plads til <em>outliers<\/em> i form af f.eks. Jeanne Calment med sine 122 \u00e5r.
